Are We Encouraging Question Asking?

Ever have one of those experiences where either you or someone you've chatted with has some deep questions of faith? You know the kind that sends shivers down your spine where not matter what you say God needs to reveal himself in order for truth to come through?Well i had one of those today and it reminded me of all the questions I've dealt with in my life. I ask myself "what would it have been like if i verbalized my question everyone what threatened by it?"

Do you encourage Doubting Thomas'

More and more frequently I encounter youth and young adults in the prairies that are tired of how they interact with faith. Growing up in the Christian community we are encouraged to ask questions within certain restraints. If a youth or young adult ask hard questions of faith they are genuinely seen as a potential “backslider”. The difficulty with this is that it creates an environment where one will likely not ask critical questions of faith, become frustrated and walk away from the Church.

Intention vs Activity

It was 5:30 in the morning when my alarm went off. Janet (my wife) wondered why we would possibly be starting when it was still dark out. I got up and went to McDonalds for a bacon and egg mcmuffin and drove to my brother-in-laws house to help him shingle his roof. We got off to a great start, we sat around the table and drank coffee until the sun came up, it was about 6:30.
