Biography

Rob's PhotoIf you would ask me what stood out about me, my mind would race!  Would I tell you about immigrating to Canada when I was 5 and being scared of this new country?  Would I tell you about moving into the North End of Winnipeg and how I didn’t fit in because I couldn’t speak the language or dress like everyone else?  Would I share what it was like being a low income family living in Manitoba Housing when others students weren’t?  Would I share with you about growing up in a home where my dad was an alcoholic and we were always scared?  Maybe I would share about buying our first house and losing it because we couldn’t afford it.  Or I would explain what it was like to move to a Christian community, only to find that I wasn’t accepted because I wasn’t Christian.

Coming from a non-Christian home I had no use for faith growing up.  But God has a tendency to change our minds on things and in 1989 He did just that.

Since ’89 God has moved me towards ministry, giving me opportunities to intern for 2 years in one church, serve 8 years in another, 2 1/2 years running a drop-in centre and now serving in a church again as a Youth Pastor.  It’s been an awesome adventure.  All the while God was brewing within me this passion for Youth and Youth Workers in Canada.  I love encouraging and helping Youth Workers grow in their ministry.

I’m married to my bride, Janet and we have two amazing blenders without lids.  Therone and Morgan, who are our pride and joy.  I love car audio, reading and documentaries (Geek-boy is what my wife calls me, ha ha).  My favourite movie is a toss up between Princess Bride and LOTR Trilogy.

All of these things are part of my story, and I look forward to sharing with you how God turned this mess of a life into something incredible.
